About the event

“Unaccompanied” is an immigration themed solo performance project featuring newly commissioned works by immigrant and first-generation American composers. Although it can be difficult to have meaningful conversation about immigration, the issues touch all of our families. Eguchi has invited composers to put some of their personal story into sound asking, “What does YOUR American-ness sound like?” The concert will feature the world premiere of "Slowly Fading" by Ajibola. The cello gives metaphorical voice to each story, and insight into ourselves and our shared humanity. The performance will include opportunity for community conversations with the audience, performer, and visiting composers.

The concert will take place at Abington Presbyterian Church but will also be shared online at the MAA YouTube Channel for those unable to attend in person.
